Snipped by a star! Ex-EastEnders actor in 'guest spot' at Jersey barbers

Former EastEnders star Jonny Labey is doing a two week 'guest spot' at a barber shop in town.

The Jersey-born actor, who is best known for playing Paul Coker in the long-running TV soap, is currently taking bookings at male grooming studio KSG Barbershop.

Speaking to Express, he explained that it was common for actors to pick up hospitality or other part-time work in between roles, and that the owner of KSG – Kyle Gibaut – had suggested he would make a good barber.

"On EastEnders my character worked in a salon called Blades, so I've come full circle," Mr Labey joked.

"It's a people skill really – you're also someone who people can talk to and catch up with."

The actor attended a 12-week course at the London School of Barbering earlier this year, and also has a separate Instagram account – 'barbarberman' – showcasing his work.

"They [the school] gave me a full on diploma," he said.

"It's nice that I've got something here that I can crack on with while collaborating with Jersey artists," he added, revealing that he would be participating in a one-man play based on Charlie Chaplin at the end of the year.

In a social media post earlier this week, the star wrote: "Proud to do a two week guest spot in my home town and in the best barbershop on the island!"

Islanders can book to have their hair cut by Mr Labey via the KSG Barbershop website here.
