A local disability charity will be able to set up a second-hand equipment hub thanks to a grant of £40,000.
Enable Jersey - Bailiwick Express and Connect Magazine's partner charity in 2022 - is one of 14 charities to be benefitting from the latest round of funding from the Jersey Community Foundation, totalling more than £350,000.
The grants come from three funds - the 'William Openshaw Street Charitable Fund', the 'Ann Alice Rayner Fund', and the 'Greville Bathe Fund' - which were all set up to help those most in need in Jersey.
Made possible with the £40,000 donation, Enable Jersey's second-hand equipment hub will provide used and repurposed care equipment such as chairs, walkers, beds, and hoists to individuals who are unable to afford or source new equipment.
£26,858 has been donated to Jersey Action Against Rape to provide support and therapy to survivors over the age of 50 of historic and recent sexual trauma, while a further £12,000 has been donated to Caring Cooks to provide families in need with food and fuel vouchers.

Other charities to have received donations include Wetwheels Jersey, Every Child Our Future, Brighter Futures, Dementia Jersey, Macmillan Jersey and Jersey Hospice Care.
Anna Terry, CEO of Jersey Community Foundation, commented: “With rising interest rates, soaring food and bill costs, and high property and rental prices, the number of people in our community in need of help and support is unprecedented.
"We hope that these funds provide the immediate relief that families, individuals, and charities need during a particularly challenging winter, and beyond.”
