Over 800 enjoy first Colour Fun Run

Monday 06 June 2016

Organisers have branded the first Dandara Colour Fun Run a “rip-roaring success” in their bid to raise £40,000 for a new children’s care worker.

Over 800 runners took part in the 5km event yesterday from West Park slip to Bel Royal.

Louise Ferns, fundraising and support officer for Family Nursing & Home Care, at Le Bas Centre in town, said: “It was a fabulous day all round and as well as the 800 people who did the run we were also very appreciative of the help we got from over 70 volunteers.

“It was the first colour fun run we have held in Jersey and it was a rip-roaring success. We were really pleased with the turn-out and everyone had a lot of fun. The paint-bombers all had a great time too.”

The event was held to raise money to fund a new paediatric care worker, to provide end-of-life support for both adults and children.

Mrs Ferns said: “We don’t know the final total we have raised yet as we are still counting all the donations we have received but we will publicise it as soon as possible. All we can say is that the support we received from runners, volunteers and sponsors has been terrific. We are delighted with the way the fun run went and hopefully it is the start of many more.”
