A bus burst into flames along St. Brelade’s Bay this morning - but all passengers fortunately escaped unharmed.
The fire in the engine compartment badly damaged the rear of the vehicle.
The 12A bus from town to Corbière was travelling down to St Brelade’s Bay with a small number of passengers when the fire began, at around 06:50.
The bus was quickly evacuated by the driver and the passengers were picked up by a school bus around 15 minutes later and continued on their journey.
Liberty Bus Director Kevin Hart said: “We will be investigating the cause of the fire and it’s too early to say what the problem was.
“The key thing is that the driver evacuated the bus safely and no one was injured.
“We will now be bringing the bus back to our depot at La Collette where we will conduct a thorough investigation.”
Video footage taken by a passenger shows flames and thick black smoke pouring out the rear of the bus.
The Fire and Rescue Service was called and quickly extinguished the flames.
