It's a 'souper' idea, according to its owner. A new soup shop will open this morning to Islanders hoping to keep warm as the winter months approach - and if customers get caught short, it's also only a couple of feet from the nearest loo.
The Cafe Society soup shop in Conway Street is the latest venture by owner Michael Smith, who says the fact that it is within touching distance of the new parish public toilets doesn't bother him at all.
He said: "It is a very busy part of town and it is using a part of the building which was not being used. It was the footfall going past which was so important."
All the cooking will be done at Mr Smith's main outlet in Hillgrove Street. The soup shop will open today and although the jokes will be coming thick and fast, Mr Smith is convinced it will be a huge success.
He will, of course, hope never to hear the cry of...."waiter, waiter there's a pair of flies in my soup!"
