Plans for seasonal three-tent campsite in St. Brelade

Tuesday 26 September 2023

An agricultural field in St. Brelade will become a seasonal campsite for three solar-powered bell tents, if Planning agree.

Applicant Matthew Le Maistre Smith is seeking permission to temporarily change the use of a field not far from the Hotel La Place from agriculture to tourism between May and September.

He also wants to erect three rentable bell tents, each with a next-door portable toilet, which will be surrounded by a 2m-high willow fence, and solar panel array.

The tents will be spaced out close to the field’s western boundary.

If plans are approved, a temporary converted horse-box shower unit will be situated in the north-west corner of the field.

Extra planting around the boundary is also planned.

It is envisaged that campers will be able to park a car to the north of each tent, with vehicles entering and leaving the field from its north-east corner.

The full planning application can be viewed online.
