Plans for new defence for Beaumont

Wednesday 02 September 2015

The sea wall at the Gunsite could soon be raised to help stop bad flooding at Beaumont during high tide.

TTS want to raise the wall by just under a foot from the slip to just beyond Le Perquage Car Park to deflect the waves back into the sea.

Beaumont has been flooded several times when there is a high tide and during stormy conditions and properties have been badly damaged.

TTS say they’ve tried to minimise the flooding using exta-large sand bags and have even trialled a temporary inflatable barrier but say both methods are both labour intensive and only offer partial defence.

They are now putting in a planning application to raise and reshape the wall in keeping with the old one.

You’ll be able to see their plans on the States website and in the Gunsite Café and at the Goose pub in a few weeks’ time.
