Man suffers knife injury during group fight

Monday 28 October 2019

A man was hurt with a knife during a group fight that took place in town on the weekend, Police have said in an appeal for more information.

Members of the Force say they are now looking for a heavily tattooed man in his early 20s, who was seen running away from the scene of the "public order incident", which started around 17:20 on Craig Street, St. Helier, on Saturday.

Wanted for 'grave and criminal assault', Police say the man was spotted running away from Craig Street in the direction of Val Plaisant.

He is described as being of Portuguese origin, in his early-20s, approximately 5’5” and heavily tattooed. He was wearing a black top and black shorts at the time.

The man was part of a group of young men - all believed to be of Portuguese origin and known to each other - who were having an argument.

As it escalated, one male was injured with a knife. He did not require hospital treatment, however.

Two men, 18 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of affray and have since been released on police bail pending further investigation.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the wanted man or further information about the argument is urged to call Police on 612612 or make an anonymous report by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or using their online form.
