Police are investigating after a Porsche hit a barrier halfway up Beaumont Hill over the weekend, forcing the closure of the road for around two hours.
Officers were called at 16:48 on Sunday by the 45-year-old driver of the black vehicle.
The road was subsequently closed from the roundabout at the top of the hill to the bottom of the hill, by the cannon, and motorists were urged to avoid the area.
A Police spokesperson said: "The driver declined medical treatment and the road was closed whilst accident investigators tried to establish what had happened and it was open again about two hours later."
They added that the collision was still under investigation, and that there had been "no arrests or charges at this time".
