Police are investigating the death of woman who was discovered unconscious in Victoria Bathing Pool yesterday.
Officers said the woman, who was not named but described as “in her late 50s” and having been “dressed all in white”, was found around 18:00 on Bank Holiday Monday (2 May).
The Coastguard was called and Emergency Services were sent to the area of the Marine Lake. However, the woman sadly passed away after being taken to hospital.
The Force is now appealing for witnesses.
"This incident is being treated as an unexplained death and is being investigated," officers said.
"Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this woman, dressed all in white, at around 17:30 in the area of Le Fregate steps."
They continued: "Anyone who may have seen this or who has any information is asked to contact police on 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their anonymous online form."
Police also noted that the Deputy Viscount has been informed. An inquest is expected to follow.
