Police search Devil's Hole for missing islander

Sunday 05 March 2017

A major search is continuing in Jersey this morning for Valerie Jehan, who hasn't been seen for nearly two days.

The search for the 75-year-old is centred around Devil's Hole, but the Police are urging Islanders not to join in because of the "dangers in the area."

Ms Jehan took a bus to Devil's Hole on Friday lunchtime, and hasn't been seen since just after midday on 3 March. She’s described as 5 foot 6 inches tall, of proportionate build with light brown/blonde hair. She’s believed to have been wearing a black coat, dark clothing, glasses and carrying a small black handbag.

Emergency services are focussing on that area, and also looking further along the north coast.

In a statement, the Police said:

"Police would like to emphasise against members of public going out and searching on their own volition due to the dangers in the area, but are urged to remain vigilant and report any sightings to the Police."

Anyone who has information about Ms Jehan is urged to contact the Police on 612612.
