A popular family-owned farm shop, which was one of the oldest in Jersey, has closed its doors for the final time.
Lucas Farm Shop at the bottom of La Haule Hill in St. Brelade opened in 1971, making it one of the oldest in Jersey, selling a wide range of produce, including flowers.
For many years, the business grew vegetables in the prominent field opposite La Haule Farm, with its neat rows of salads, cauliflowers and other crops. However, it has not been used by the farm for several years.
A note at the farm shop saying it is closed was posted last week.
The business also ran an internet and home delivery business and, at one stage, opened a shop in Liberty Wharf.
On Friday, the Royal Court ordered La Haule Farm Ltd to pay the Treasurer of the States £86,940.67 in respect of non-payment of Social Security contributions.
