Ports of Jersey has drafted in a UK headhunter to help it find a new Chair with a "natural ambassadorial aptitude" – and there is just over a week left to apply.
The role, which is being advertised locally and in The Times' Appointments section, opened up after Mark Chown stepped down at the end of 2023.
UK-based Satori Executive Search – described on its site as a "boutique leadership services company" – has been appointed to handle the process.
Mr Chown, who had been Ports' Chair since 2017, tenedered his resignation in November.
The former Flybe executive and Jersey Reds Governance Board member had led Ports through covid, but stepped down before work started on "ambitious" £200m infrastructure improvement plans, saying his was "an opportune time to hand over to a successor".

Jeffrey Hume, previously the Deputy Chair, was officially appointed as Interim Chair by Treasury Minister Ian Gorst on Thursday 14 December and started the role on 1 January.
Mr Hume, whose background is in finance- and audit-related senior positions across industries including telecommunications, insurance, engineering and social housing, will hold the role until a successor is officially appointed.
The Chair oversees the entirety of Ports of Jersey's assets: the Port of St Helier, Jersey Airport, as well as "numerous associated maritime and aeronautical assets".
Ports of Jersey is also in charge of the Coastguard and the Marina.
And the organisation stands at the beginning of a major upgrade costing £200m - which includes replacing Elizabeth Terminal with a new curved building, increasing capacity, and reworking the layout of the Harbour.
The job posting highlights the complexity and diversity of Ports and its "strong public interest mandate" – as, in the ad's words, "everything and everyone who comes to the island comes through these facilities".
The posting says that Ports is looking for someone with experience as a leader in a complicated, high-stakes company.
The individual should have an "executive or non-executive" background in a company in the regulated sector and be "capable of managing complex and multiple stakeholder relationships".
Ports of Jersey are also hoping to find someone with "strategic influencing skills" and "a natural ambassadorial aptitude".
No salary is provided on the posting – this is only available "on application". The deadline for applications is Sunday 14 January.
