Pounds per plate for Prep’s playground

Two local restaurants are serving up a side of philanthropy this month by donating money to support Victoria College Prep’s PTA, ‘Friends of Prep’.

Green Island Restaurant and Ormer Jersey are teaming up to support the PTA’s fundraising efforts to raise £25,000 for a new school playground.

The PTA started fundraising for the playground redevelopment at the beginning of this year and hopes to reach their target by January 2018.

For the next two weeks, Green Island Restaurant will be donating one pound per dinner and asking customers to match this donation.

Alan Winch, Owner and Manager of Green Island Restaurant commented on the importance of supporting the community: "Here at Green Island Restaurant, we have a loyal following of customers who not only come to us for fresh food dining time and time again – but have also come to know us as a part of the Jersey community. We simply like to give back and espouse generosity in kind."

Ormer Jersey will be donating two pounds per dinner as a contribution to the PTA’s fundraising efforts.

Founder of Ormer Jersey and Chef de Patron, Shaun Rankin said: "Ormer Jersey is proud to support Friends of Prep in their fundraising. And as we branch out further afield with Ormer Mayfair, we continue to remember our Jersey roots, and support local community projects where we can make a difference."

Dan Pateman, Headteacher at VCP said: “We are grateful for the support of our proactive PTA and the wider community in rejuvenating our play spaces and equipment. The new playground will be distinctly zoned to promote a variety of play-settings that suit the diverse personalities and interests of the boys – whether they're into sports, performing arts, chess or all three!"
