One of Jersey's iconic Puddle Ducks could finally be on the cusp of a ferry-tale ending after four months on the market in Germany – with one potential buyer considering using it in an adventure park.
Known as the Vanguard, the amphibious vehicle which used to transport tourists to Elizabeth Castle was put up for sale for €15,555 by car salesman Info Sillus in April of this year.
One of three crafts built from scratch by Henk Goed in the 1980s and 90s, Vanguard was able to carry 27 passengers across the bay.
When these three amphibious buses were in action, the service was owned entirely by Mr Goed. After the business was sold several times and the fleet of buses replaced, the Vanguard ended up in Berlin with a friend of Ingo's.
Thinking that he might be able to get the vehicle to run on German roads, Ingo brought it back to his garage in Neu Gülze, an hour East from Hamburg. It has been there since 2013.
But Ingo said there was "no chance" of getting the vehicle through a German MOT and therefore decided to sell it.
Since being listed on German website ebay-kleinanzeigen.de, the ad for the Vanguard has attracted more than 6,100 views and 42 people have bookmarked it.

Among those to have formally expressed interest was a potential buyer with the "crazy idea" of using it in an adventure park, Ingo said.
He said that he would ideally like to see someone bring the vehicle back to Jersey, and suggested that someone might start a kiosk selling 'Fischbrötchen' – a classic German beach food that translates to "fish roll".
