Red zone isolation period to go down to 10 days

Thursday 12 November 2020

Jersey’s testing provisions for travellers arriving from red zones will soon be changing, the Assistant Education Minister has confirmed.

Speaking to Express about provisions for getting students home for Christmas, Deputy Jeremy Maçon said that the new rules will mean all travellers coming in from red zones will only have to isolate for ten days if they test negative three times.

Talking about the shift, he said: “The policy regarding those coming from red and amber zones will be changing – and what that will mean is there will be enhanced testing which they anticipate will lead to a reduced isolation period.

“So the plan is if you’re coming from a red area and you travel to Jersey… On day 0 you have a test, on day 5 you have a test and on day 10 you have a test and therefore if they’re all negative you’re free to go.”

Though he could not confirm any more details, he said more information would be coming from medics next week.
