Royal Court date set for sentencing of man guilty of grooming

Sunday 02 September 2018

A 33-year-old Jersey man who admits a charge of grooming is to be sentenced by the Royal Court on 5 October.

Stephen Facchino admits that in June he communicated on at least two occasions with ‘James’, a fictional 13-year-old boy.

Earlier this week, Jersey’s Magistrate’s Court sent Robert Connell, a 56-year-old holidaymaker, to prison for seven months, after he also admitted a grooming charge.

Connell had come over to the island for "a short break" and struck up a ‘conversation’ with a fictitious 14-year-old boy, who he tried to meet for sex, on gay dating app Grindr.
