A new judge responsible for granting divorces, determining financial disputes between spouses and making child protection orders has been appointed to the Royal Court.
Former England and Wales Supreme Court Solicitor Advocate Samantha McFadzean is to become the new Family Division Registrar – a role that will also involve processing adoption applications.
Her appointment comes after six years living and practising Family Law in Jersey.
She joined Carey Olsen, and was called to the Jersey Bar in 2015, later attaining the role of Counsel within the firm.

In 2016, Advocate McFadzean was awarded one of the highest accolades within her sector of expertise, having been granted an International Academy of Family Lawyers Fellowship.
At the time, she was just one of two with the status on the island, and one of around just 700 worldwide.
She will start in the new role on 5 November this year.
