Russian ships banned from Jersey ports

Wednesday 02 March 2022

Vessels owned by Russian people or flying the Russian flag have been banned from Jersey's ports.

External Relations Minister Senator Ian Gorst signed the blocking order yesterday, following similar action from UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.

The ban applies to any vessels that are:

  • Owned, controlled, chartered, or operated by any person connected with Russia
  • Owned, controlled, chartered or operated by Designated Persons
  • Flying the Russian flag
  • Registered in Russia

Jersey's ports officials say they will also be working with the UK to share intelligence on such vessels and assist with identifying any that fall into the banned category.
