School girl ‘followed home’ by hooded man

Thursday 25 January 2018

A 10-year-old girl has told Police she was left “unnerved” after a man followed her home from school.

The girl had been walking home from school on Wednesday afternoon around 15:00 from Plat Douet Road in the direction of Rue de Pres when she noticed a bearded older male following her.

She explained that she had stopped walking once or twice to see whether he would walk past her, but he was said to have stopped at the same time.

While the man did not attempt to touch or speak to her, the primary school child said that the alleged ordeal had upset her.

He was reported to have been hooded and dressed in “high visibility clothing” and work boots, and was also carrying a ‘Food Hall’ bag “possibly containing bananas.”

Police are now appealing to the public for further information, and are asking anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area at the time to get in contact.

Islanders can pass on information by calling Police on 612612 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
