Two Scout leaders who alerted a family to a fire outside their home and helped them out of the property have been praised for their rapid actions.
Passing the St. Ouen home on their way to 1st Jersey Sea Scout Group meeting on Tuesday evening, Stuart Thompson and Sam Drayson Le Tissier spotted flames and smoke.
Jersey Fire and Rescue were called, and Green Watch and on-call firefighters headed to the area.
They discovered that the fire had started in an outside bin and was escalating quickly, having already cracked a ground floor window.
Crew Commander Philip Dodd praised the pair who alerted the family to the fire.
"Without the quick actions of the two Scout leaders, the fire could have quickly escalated," he said.
Jersey Scouts said: "As Scout leaders we teach our members about what to do in case of an emergency and tonight, they put the training they provide into action! Well done!"
