COMPETITION: We're hunting for Jersey's finest Christmas lights...

Monday 19 December 2016

Have a neighbour's Christmas lights added an extra sparkle to your street? Or is your own display a shining star?

Whether Santa, snowman or nativity scene-based, Bailiwick Express is preparing to be dazzled, as it commences its hunt for the Island's top twinklers.

If you've been blown away by a festive lights display, or wish to showcase your own home's decoration prowess - simply send a photo to pictures@bailiwickexpress.com, along with your name and/or the owner of the display, if you know them, and where the lights are located before this Friday 23 December.

Alan Garnham, Jersey Electricity's Senior Production and Maintenance Engineer, who is responsible for running the La Collette Power Station, will be tasked with choosing from the collection of terrific, traditional and wonderfully tacky festive displays, with the winner announced on Christmas Eve.

He said: "At this time of year with the early dark nights its lovely to see the houses all lit up on my drive home and when out walking, they can really cheer you up, so I’m looking forward to seeing lights from all around the island that I wouldn’t otherwise.

"I know some people go to great lengths to create a magical wonderland atmosphere. But I suppose as we at Jersey Electricity are always encouraging our customers to be energy efficient, today’s LEDs enable people to create amazing displays using much less energy than in the past."
