It appears the battle for Chief Minister is going to be a two-way fight.
Senator Lyndon Farnham says he now won't be going for the job.
That leaves just two declared candidates: the current Chief Minister Senator Ian Gorst, and newly promoted Senator-elect John Le Fondre.
In a brief statement Senator Farnham says: "the majority of support is lying with Senator Gorst and Senator elect Le Fondre. With that in mind, and after careful consideration, I have decided not to put my name forward. Whilst I am disappointed I am also realistic in my expectations and now believe that it is in the Assembly’s best interests to have a straight forward contest between the remaining two candidates."
The deadline for nominations is 17:00 tonight.
States members will elect their Chief Minister on 4 June.
