Five injured in high-speed crash

Saturday 13 May 2017

Jersey Police are investigating what's believed to have been a head-on car crash outside St Saviour's School, which left five people injured. A man's now been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

It happened just before midnight last night on Bagatelle Road, which was then closed until the morning.

The crash involved a black Fiesta with five people in it, and a silver Mercedes with one person. The five in the Fiesta were all males, and were injured although those injuries are not being described by the Police as life-changing. The driver of the Mercedes was uninjured.

A fire service statement explains what they found when they arrived at the crash site:

"There were a large number of people in the area and emergency services on scene had to quickly determine who had been involved in the incident, was everyone accounted for and what were the extent of the injuries to those involved. All persons involved in the incident were treated initially on scene by the Paramedic crews in attendance, three were transported to hospital for further observations/treatment. The area was made as safe as possible by the FRS and the incident was handed to the Police who were starting their investigations in to the cause of the collision."

Police say that the road was closed until 06:15 whilst specialist collision investigators examined the scene.

They are now asking for anyone who saw the Fiesta, which had travelled from the direction of Five Oaks, or the Mercedes, which had been travelling from Mont Millais to contact them on 612612.
