St Helier is considering slowing all traffic within the ring road down to a maximum of 20mph.
That's 10mph slower than the current limit, and the plan has the backing of the Parish's roads committee which is chaired by the Constable, Simon Crowcroft.
He commented: “Away from the rush hours and often at weekends and in the evenings, St. Helier residents do have to put up with people driving at really quite high speeds down St. Helier’s streets.”
The Parish is now asking residents to let them know what they think of the plan, and if it's popular, they'll approach the Department of Infrastructure to change the law.
Mr Crowcroft said: “The purpose of the consultation is to find out how many residents there are out there who would like to see the 20mph limit apply to St. Helier.”
