St. Helier welcomes new Parish CEO

Thursday 22 December 2022

The Parish of St. Helier has this week welcomed a new Chief Executive Officer.

Andrew Sugden, previous Director of Operations for the parish, was appointed by Constable Simon Crowcroft and took over from Jason Turner on Monday.

Mr Sugden first joined the Parish in 2020, having worked for more than 11 years as Director of Corporate Development for the States of Jersey Police. He has also previously held roles within Government, and carried out a number of change projects for local firms.

In 2018, he was named Director of the Year by the Institute of Directors.

The Parish said Mr Sugden is looking forward to supporting the Constable and parishioners, and building on the good work done before him.

He is only the second person to have held the top parish job, which was only created in 2018.

For 15 years prior to that, many parts of the job - which involves taking responsibility for the strategic leadership and management of all parish-run services within St. Helier - had been covered by the Constable.

However, the Constable decided that it would be more appropriate for a "qualified and experienced local professional to fulfil the role" and took on former Deputy Chief Officer and Director of Finance and Information at Health and Social Services, Jason Turner.

Mr Turner has now returned to the UK to be closer to his family.
