St. Saviour Deputy hopes to return with early years focus

Tuesday 17 May 2022

A sitting St. Saviour Deputy is aiming for re-election in the hope of “fighting for investment” in education and early years, including the cost of childcare.

Deputy Doublet was first elected in St Saviour District 2 in 2014 and again in 2018, when she topped the poll.

Since being elected, she has served on scrutiny panels examining the areas of Children, Education and Home Affairs, Care of Children in Jersey and the Gender Pay Gap.

She also Chairs the Diversity Forum, and has been a member of the Political Awareness Education Sub-Committee and is on the Executive Committee of the Jersey branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

If re-elected, Deputy Doublet said her key aims would be to fighting for investment across Education including Early Years, addressing the cost of childcare.

She tackling violence against women and girls, working towards a more equal and inclusive society, and maintaining the focus on wellbeing and mental health.

She commented: "I will always put the needs of those I serve at the heart of everything I do. Since 2014 I have been proud to represent the people of St Saviour 2 with compassion, tenacity and integrity.

"My approach is an inclusive one and I have been a champion for children, families, mothers, fathers, carers, women and minority groups in the island. My experiences as a teacher, and then as a parent myself, have kept me in touch with real life and I have been proud to speak up for the needs and views of 'middle Jersey', as well as the marginalised and vulnerable.

"I have taken a rigorous and evidence-based approach to my work in Scrutiny and with my own backbencher campaigns and propositions. My aim is for every person in Jersey to have a secure and enjoyable quality of life, from the youngest to the oldest. I remain passionate about advocating for others and would very much like to continue my work in the States Assembly."
