It may come as no great surprise that the subject of student funding is a hot topic for young voters - but it seems election promises on environmental issues and affordable homes could also secure their votes.
With just two weeks until the island decides who will be sitting in the next States Assembly, Express has visited a group of Year 12 students at Jersey College for Girls to find out what key priorities they are listening out for.
16-year-olds have been able to vote in Jersey’s election since 2008, an opportunity not shared by their UK counterparts. But as new voters, what is important to them?

In the second instalment of their election journey, Zara, Juliette, Rosie and Ellie said that they didn’t feel that they were fully represented in the previous States Assembly so hope to see a wider range of politicians sitting in those red leather chairs.
Although they feel a different range of views are important to have a healthy debate, they told Express they do want candidates with policies that will to help them go to university, but also return to the island after studying to live and have a family…
