Planning inquiry announced into Tamba Park extension

Tuesday 22 November 2016

Environment Minister Steve Luce yesterday announced there will be a planning inquiry into ambitious plans by entrepreneur Jonathan Ruff to extend Tamba Park with a new leisure and activity centre.

The plans would involve the demolition of glasshouses and as well as the leisure and activity centre there will also be 15 houses erected, with car parking and landscaping.

Deputy Luce has decided there is sufficient public interest to hold a planning inquiry. The land is in Jersey's designated green zone, which means any development can only go ahead in exceptional circumstances.

The Minister will appoint an independent planning inspector and a website will be set up for the public to air their views. The date of the inquiry, which will be open to the public, has not yet been set.

Mr Ruff recently opened Tamba Bar in the former Liquid Nightclub and a video arcade centre.
