A taxi driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Police said a Toyota Prius Taxi was involved in a two-vehicle collision on St. Saviour’s Hill with a white flatbed truck on Friday (19 February) around 17:15 in the area of Wellington Road.
In an appeal for more information, officers reported that the taxi then “drove away from the scene, descended the hill, proceeded along St Saviour’s Road, and then headed up Wellington Hill.”
It was then said to have crashed "head-on into a wall before driving off in the direction of Highlands College.”
The Force confirmed that they arrested a man a short time later “on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and failing to stop and report.”
He has been released on police bail whilst further enquiries continue.
Anyone who may have seen this or who has any information or dash-cam footage is asked to contact Police on 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers via their website.
