Beaumont Hill had to be closed to traffic this afternoon after a taxi suddenly caught fire.
Emergency Services were called to deal with the fire around 14:00 this afternoon.
Firefighters put out the blaze and fortunately no one was injured.
The road remained closed while the car cooled.
However, by around 15:30, Beaumont Hill was reopened.
Police thanked islanders for their patience.
