A 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of driving dangerously while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Police said the alleged dangerous driving took place around 06:50 on Sunday 16 August on Queen's Road near to the Pet Cabin.
Describing the reported sequence of events, officers said: "A black Ford Fiesta was heading down the hill, travelling above the speed limit and lost control, forcing a white Peugeot to take evasive action to avoid a head-on collision."

Since being arrested, the teen has been arrested on police bail while enquiries continue.
Police are now seeking witnesses, and are urging anyone with more information to call 612612 or make an anonymous report using the Crimestoppers website.
