Police are appealing for information after a teenage girl was injured after being “knocked to the ground” by a car playing “loud music” in Georgetown yesterday morning.

The 17-year-old was checking for traffic when she crossed the road before being struck by the vehicle.

The incident took place around 09:25 yesterday morning at the junction of Albert Road and Victoria Road when the girl was walking from the garage forecourt in Georgetown heading towards town.

She initially checked for on-coming traffic, but when she stepped into the road she was hit by a passing car.

The teenager sustained minor injuries including bruising and pain as well as suffering from shock – injuries which were treated by ambulance staff before she was taken to A&E.
