Teens involved in Five Mile Road crash were De La Salle pupils

Wednesday 19 April 2017

The four teenagers involved in a car accident on the Five Mile road over the Easter weekend were all De La Salle students, it has been confirmed.

In a statement released to Express, the school confirmed that the boys were four Year 13 students: an 18-year-old driver, two passengers aged 18 and one 17-year-old.

They say that the students are recovering, but that the circumstances of the crash remain unclear.

Assistant Head Teacher Tim Silvester commented: “Two of the students are at home, recovering from their injuries, one is in hospital here in Jersey and the driver has been transferred to a hospital in the UK. We have not been able to ascertain exactly what happened but I am sure that the families will provide us with more information when they are able to.

“The thoughts and prayers of the whole De La Salle community are with all four students and their families. With God’s grace they will make a complete recovery and be back with us soon.”

Police say the accident happened at around 23.00 on Sunday. The four males were subsequently brought to the Emergency Department between 00:00 and 01:00.

The vehicle involved, a blue Peugeot 106, is believed to have been traveling south along the Five Mile Road, between El Tico and Le Braye Cafe.

Officers have already taken statements from a number of witnesses but would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and saw the Peugeot.

In addition, officers are also requesting anyone who has CCTV on their nearby premises to get in touch so that they can take a look at the footage.
