Three homes have been bought by the Government to make way for the future hospital - and a further seven are due to be purchased in the coming weeks.
The three properties, which will be demolished, were acquired following a negotiation process, and not as a result of a compulsory purchase order, the Government confirmed this evening.
Express revealed earlier this week that the Government had budgeted nearly £16m to buy all of the properties and land needed for the island's new key health facility at Overdale. The Government has not confirmed the cost of the three properties acquired so far.
“I welcome the news that we have completed a successful negotiated purchase of these three properties, which were originally marked for compulsory purchase," Deputy Chief Minister Senator Lyndon Farnham, who has political responsibility for the hospital project, said.
“I would like to thank all parties involved for their co-operation, which will ensure that the Our Hospital project can continue to move forward for the benefit of all islanders.”
The Infrastructure Minister, Deputy Kevin Lewis, has given the green light to Jersey Property Holdings to purchase seven more homes. These transactions are expected to go through the Royal Court in the next few weeks.
