Three is the magic number for dog lovers this Valentine's Day

Sunday 04 February 2018

They say that two is company and three is a crowd... But this Valentine's Day, it's all about puppy love - and three is the magic number!

Jersey's pup lovers will this Valentine's Day be able to enjoy an evening with their sweetheart and their beloved pooch at the Old Court House - and all for a good cause.

Organised by WhizzDog, the ticketed evening will raise money for local charity, Jersey Rescue Dogs, who rescue foster and rehome canines in need from Jersey, the UK and Ireland.

The event is a first for Jersey and will see diners receive a goodie bag from a number of dog-friendly businesses, including FeelUnique.com, Husse Jersey, Jersey’s Barking Bakes, and Country Clippers Dog Grooming. All businesses have donated products as part of the event from complementary ‘hooman’ treatments to hand-baked doggy cupcakes.

Priced at £65 per couple, the evening includes a three course meal for two and a bottle of wine to share for the humans. Pooches will not be left aside with a doggy cupcake handmade by Jersey’s Barking Bakes and a goody full of great freebies. The ticket also include a donation to Jersey Rescue Dogs, who offer a sanctuary to a group of dogs who would otherwise struggle to find a home, on top of their rescue efforts.

Hannah Maden-Adams, founder of WhizzDog - a doggie directory - explained that the platform now wants to expand into the world of good causes.

"I want to use whizzDog.com as a platform to raise money for local charities and figured a dating night, complete with dogs, sounded like great fun for both people and dogs alike! When I approached Old Court House, they loved the idea and ‘Will you beagle my Valentine?’ was born!

"I really hope the money raised can help save lives, buy equipment and find new homes for dogs in need in the Channel Islands.”
