The Council of Ministers are spending today in the States Chamber but tomorrow night they face a much tougher audience – the Jersey public.
Islanders are going to get the chance to put any questions they have to ministers at an event tomorrow night, at the first of a series of community meetings that Chief Minister Ian Gorst is planning.
He says that the events are about giving the public the chance to speak directly to ministers, raise concerns and hold their representatives to account.
The event takes place at the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society headquarters, Trinity, from 7.30pm tomorrow – people attending can either ask a question directly, or put it anonymously by writing it down.
All of the ministers, apart from External Relations Minister Philip Bailhache who is out of the Island, will be on the panel.
Senator Gorst said: “These meetings are an important part of demonstrating openness and transparency in government.
“We want to communicate directly with Islanders, and hear a diversity of views on how we should approach the challenging issues we are facing.
“I hope these community events will help ministers to work with Islanders in the best interests of Jersey.”
