Twitter first for Chief Minister

Tuesday 05 August 2014

Chief Minister Ian Gorst will be live online tonight for his first Twitter question and answer session.

Senator Gorst has gained over 800 Twitter followers since starting an account on the social media platform last year.

A spokeswoman for the Chief Minister said: “He has been interested in doing this for a while. Although he has done live Q&As before through other media, this will be his first one on Twitter.

“The Chief Minister will take questions from people on Twitter and will try to answer whatever people ask.”

Senator Gorst announced the session on Twitter last week under the hashtag #askthecm

The session will run from 5-6pm tonight. Submit questions during this time to @Ian_Gorst using the relevant hashtag.

While government business is a common topic for the Senator on Twitter, he regularly re-tweets sports stories and posts photos of himself and other ministers at meetings or with visiting dignitaries.

Last month the Chief Minister took part in a live radio Q&A with Sara Palmer on BBC Radio Jersey.
