Two arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after armed police operation

Wednesday 20 April 2016

A man and a woman are in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over an attack by the burger bar in Bel Royal on Monday afternoon.

The 37-year-old man was arrested at around midday yesterday in town, around 22 hours after the attack took place.

The woman (22) was caught at around 10 pm on Monday night.

It’s not clear yet whether or when the two might be charged with an offence.

The 31-year-old victim in the attack, who is said by police to have known both of the suspects, was treated in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital overnight on Monday, but was released on Tuesday morning.

Police said that he was treated for “a serious neck injury”.

After the attack at around 4 pm on Monday, police officers armed with firearms and tasers searched Millbrook Park for the suspects, evacuating the area for a short time.

They were later deployed to St Aubin to continue the search.

Specialist dog handlers were also involved in the hunt for the suspects.

It’s understood that several witnesses saw an attack took place.

Anyone with any information is being asked to contact the CID office in 612200 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555111.
