Two-site hospital would be ‘Better Way’ for St. Saviour candidate

Friday 29 April 2022

A former teacher, who would like to see the new hospital over two sites and greater protection of the island’s green fields, will be standing for election in St. Saviour.

Suzanne Webb is not part of a party, but will be standing with the independent collective ‘A Better Way’.

The group, which says it is bound by values rather than policies, includes Senator Kristina Moore, who endorsed Ms Webb as a candidate with "passion" and "sound judgment".

Ms Webb is a retired teacher, having previously taught at Uxbridge College in London, Highlands College and been contracted by the Spanish government to teach business English to university students.

In the 1990s, she ran a health, hair and beauty salon business in St. Helier for 10 years and is currently a clinical nutritionist.

Ms Webb says she is "concerned about the direction the island has taken", particularly the level of borrowing proposed for the new hospital, the housing crisis and long-term care for the ageing population.

If elected, she says her focus would be on these areas, as well as education, diversity and better government communication.
