Ulster 'A' 19 Jersey Reds 6

Jersey Reds crashed to a fifth successive league and cup defeat, going down 19-6 to a determined Ulster 'A' side in their first game in this season's British and Irish Cup in Belfast.

Harvey Biljon's side have suffered an alarming loss of form as they went down to Ulster in a competition where they reached the last four last season, losing by a single point in the semi-finals to Yorkshire Carnegie.

Jersey started the season with back to back wins over Richmond and Bedford, but since then things have gone from bad to worse for Biljon's boys.

They have lost to Ealing, Nottingham, London Welsh and London Scottish in the league and now Ulster 'A' in the B and I Cup.

Ulster took the lead in the early stages with a penalty but Sam Katz pulled the scores level with a penalty of his own to make it 3-3. Another Katz penalty put the Reds 6-3 in front but it wasn't to last long as an infringement gave Ulster a chance to make it 6-6 and the penalty was duly converted.

A McPhillips penalty for the home side made it 9-6 at half-time, then Ulster stepped up their game, scoring the only try of the match to make it 16-9.

The Reds could find no way back in what has been a miserable autumn for Biljon's team.
