Eight patients had their ultrasound appointments cancelled yesterday afternoon "due to an issue with planning of clinics" – with one patient complaining they were given just 15 minutes' notice of the cancellation.
The patient, who wished to remain anonymous, contacted Express to convey their disappointment and frustration in the cancellations, adding that "these will lead to even longer waits for the other clinics relying on the results [of the ultrasounds]".
Claire Thompson, Director of Clinical Services confirmed that eight appointments were cancelled on the afternoon of Monday 4 September due "an issue with planning of clinics".
She added: “Seven patients have been re-booked to come in for their scans with a final patient waiting confirmation.
"Health and Community Services understands that patients prepare for appointments in advance, and that their appointment is important to them and we apologise for any distress and inconvenience caused.”
