A 52-year-old man who’s pleading guilty to manslaughter with diminished responsibility is to be sentenced in Royal Court this morning.
Michael Charles Brown has admitted killing 73-year-old John Stephen McCarthy in October last year, but his lawyers say he was suffering from diminished responsibility, a claim accepted by the prosecution.
Mr McCarthy was found by a member of the public lying in the driveway to Vauxhall Gardens, Vauxhall Street, St Helier, on the evening of 21 September 2016.
Paramedics were called and treated Mr McCarthy at the scene for numerous stab wounds.
Mr Brown, who is defended by Advocate Julian Gollop, has been in custody since his arrest in October 2016.
