More than 80 endurance athletes have set off on the Round the Rock challenge.

It’s the sixth year the 48-mile round Jersey running race has been staged.

Runners from Jersey, Guernsey and the United Kingdom are joined this year by others from further afield including Norway and Singapore.

They set off from the steam clock near the Weighbridge at 06:00 and are running anti-clockwise around the island.

The current men’s record for is just over 5 hours 46 minutes.

There’s a £2,000 prize for anyone who gets around the course this year in under six hours.

The winner is expect to be back at the steam clock near the Weighbridge just before midday.

Athletes are also raising money for two local charities: Autism and Headway.
