How’s this for a scoop? The Airport are offering a free ice cream to every departing passenger between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturdays for the rest of the summer.
The scheme is the brainchild of Ports of Jersey Marketing and Communications Manager Alan Donald as a giveaway to passengers going through the Airport at its busiest times.
He says it’s all about making sure that passengers leave with a positive impression of the Island in their minds and a refreshing taste on their lips.
And he said that it was part of the recently-incorporated Ports of Jersey’s big plan to make sure that the experience of using the Airport was improved – particularly for families travelling with children.
Mr Donald said: “This initiative stems from the recent NatWest Island Games when we were considering ways in which we could give departing participants travelling through the airport terminal a final positive reminder of the Island – and the idea of a free Jersey ice-cream seemed to do the trick.
“It’s a simple gesture but one that was well received and welcomed by the participants and other departing passengers.
“So much so that we decided to do it again last weekend when we had a large number of families departing as part of the summer get-way and are looking to continue it for the reminder of the summer season.”
