Wanted: Local talents for Hospice show

Saturday 14 October 2017

Jersey Hospice Care are on the hunt for local talents to feature in 'Showtime,' a multi-performance show taking place at Jersey Opera House on 10 March 2018 and headlined by British ventriloquist Paul Zerdin.

Auditions are being held tomorrow at the Opera House from 14:30 to 21:00 and islanders of all ages abilities and talents are invited to show the judges what they've got.

Hopeful auditionees will perform their act in front of judges, who will include Guy Browning, Gabrielle Robbé's husband and Julie Chateau, Director at Performers.

Jersey Hospice is organising 'Showtime with the help of local entertainment company Performers, to raise much needed funds as all money raised from the evening will go directly to Jersey Hospice Care. It is aimed to be "a celebration of talent both on and off-island and in celebration of the life of local performer Gabrielle Robbé." The event will feature a variety of performance styles and acts from magicians to singers and Bollywood dancers and will be headlined by British ventriloquist Paul Zerdin, who won America’s Got Talent in 2015 with his puppet Sam.

Emelita Robbins, Chief Executive at Jersey Hospice Care said: "The whole team at Jersey Hospice Care is looking forward to seeing what acts take to the stage at auditions for Showtime and who knows, we might even find our very own Paul Zerdin or Pudsey the dancing dog!

"It’s even more special that we are doing this in celebration of Gabrielle Robbé, who lived her life to the full and didn’t let her illness stop her doing what she loved – performing. At Jersey Hospice Care, we echo this sentiment and want to spread her vitality by putting on this evening of entertainment for everyone to enjoy."

The show will be directed by Christophe Chateau, who commented: "We are delighted to be a part of this exciting new event with Jersey Hospice Care in memory and celebration of our dear friend and colleague, Gabrielle Robbé. Gabrielle’s talents knew no bounds and we are so pleased that her daughter Finleigh and husband Guy will be involved on the evening to help continue her legacy.

"We are looking forward to seeing what acts we will get through the door at the auditions on the 15th and would encourage anyone who’s got a passion for performing to come down – it will be fun and informal and a great opportunity to see the huge amount of talent we have in Jersey. With the likes of Paul Zerdin and some of London’s top West End stars also taking to the stage, Showtime promises to be a fabulous evening of fun and thrills for all the family."

Tickets for Showtime are priced between £30 and £130 for VIP tickets, which will include a champagne reception. They will go on sale from 1 November and will be available from the Opera House box office as well as online. Early bird rates will also be available for bookings made before the end of the year.
