Ward closures as covid cases rise in hospital

Monday 07 March 2022

Three hospital wards have been closed to visitors due to covid and some operations postponed, as cases across health premises hit a new record high today.

In addition to the General Hospital's designated covid-19 ward (Bartlett), the Government this afternoon confirmed that visiting had been suspended at Beauport Ward and Plemont Ward, which was being used for rehabilitation.

Cedar Ward at the St. Saviour's Hospital site is also closed.

Officials said there are currently 51 hospital patients with covid: 42 in the General Hospital, and nine in other health premises. There are also 52 cases in care homes. Express has asked for a breakdown of vaccination status and is awaiting a reply.

On Thursday, eight elective procedures were postponed. The following day, one was postponed.

The Government said that these would be rescheduled "as soon as possible". No elective procedures have been postponed so far this week, they added.
