A local dance teacher and choreographer has been spreading his love for tap dancing by taking his classes online for free, gaining new students in the process... from as far afield as Texas.
Every Friday at 18:30, Christophe Chateau of 'Noisy Feet' hosts a 45-minute tap dance fitness class online.
Like many fitness and dance experts, Christophe has had to move his local ‘tap dance fitness classes’ from the Jersey Opera House dance studio to the masses – all through the power of technology.
"It was tough at first for my local students who had no dance classes, had to stay indoors and I had no way of teaching them," he said. "But then after seeing a few fitness classes that transferred well online, I thought it was worth a shot."

Over the last few weeks, the St. Helier tap dancer has gained quite a few new students locally, as well as from abroad.
Among his further flung followers are tap enthusiasts in Guernsey, the UK, but also Texas.
"Since moving classes online and with people being able to follow live, or with a recording after, it really has opened up the audience, who now all want to come to Jersey for a Tap Dance weekend - once we are out of the current situation, of course," Christophe said.

The dance teacher explained that the intention of the weekly tap dance fitness class is all about keeping the mind and body moving, dancing and burning calories.
The classes are open to any tap dance level, as students are able to do as much or as little as they like during the class.
Christophe added: "If anyone is suffering from a low step count and wants to maximise their daily steps, then fitness-based tap dance is the best way to massively increase your steps by a good few thousand, have some fun, make new friends online, all while staying safely indoors."
