Dog walkers are being urged to keep their pets away from waxy white stuff that has been washing up on Jersey's beaches again.
The south east coast has been worst hit by the waxy substance that's appeared at La Mare, the Dicq and Green Island.
States officers have been scouring the beaches looking for the stuff they say is similar to what appeared on beaches last month and last December. Tests carried out at the time showed it was an oil based wax, like paraffin.
Islanders are being advised not to pick the substance up and States Vet Linda Lowseck says dog owners should take precautions and keep their pets away from it.
Last December there were reports that dogs in south Devon and Cornwall had died after eating a substance that had washed up there, believed at the time to be rancid palm oil.
