Who’s up for a big piece of Pi?

A local hotel has rustled up a novel way of raising money for charity.

The Pomme d’Or is putting maths in the mix to bake Jersey’s biggest apple pie next weekend.

It’s holding a special Pi Day and wants guests and locals to head down to Liberation Square between 11 am and 2 pm on Saturday to guess the circumference of its massive pie.

The Seymour Hotel's Sales & Marketing Executive Meriel Ellison said: “Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant, the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, which is rounded off to 03.1415!

So at the Pomme d’Or Hotel we’re celebrating the occasion by mixing Pi and Pie!”

It costs £1 to have a guess and an extra £1 if you want a slice of the pie and all the money raised will go to Headway Jersey.

All the correct answers will go into a prize draw to win Sunday lunch at the hotel but you’ll have to wait and see whether apple pie will be on that menu too!
